Catoira
A five-episode documentary series exploring one of the most significant episodes in Galician history: the defence of the Ulla River and the Arousa estuary against Viking incursions between the 9th and 11th centuries. My work focused on visual direction, motion graphics and the creation of historical recreations using artificial intelligence. The challenge was not simply to create striking images, but to build scenes with historical coherence and a consistent visual identity. Each sequence was developed from verified documentation and in close collaboration with historians and specialists, with particular attention to architecture, clothing, locations and the wider historical context. At certain moments, the imagery intentionally adopts a more cinematic approach, helping bring these events closer to a contemporary audience, particularly younger viewers. AI was used as one tool within a broader process of visual direction, research, motion graphics and post-production, while aiming to maintain as much historical accuracy as possible within the current limitations of the technology. Role: Visual Direction, Motion Graphics, Generative AI & Post-production. Production: Abella Producións, with the support of Deputación de Pontevedra and Concello de Catoira.
